Primitives–Stolen Shadows:
Large inks on paper

The Primitives, large inks on paper, procure the shadow by tracing the projection of sunlight in sequential frames as it moves across the provisional object, thus providing a record of the object in the space of time. Once the shadow is severed forever from the optical contract with its object, it becomes the Primitive, a potent generative form from which future drawings and constructions are interpreted.

The shadow has an interdependent life, one that is tied to the object that initiates its presence and motion, yet its transparent and immaterial essence takes the form of the object on which it falls; it is born of one thing and reveals something else, articulating the latent potential of reality...
